2007-12-24-cricket5.jpgThe Kandigal Cricket Tournament started its second seasonal tournament. The villagers were up early preparing the field near a Coalition Base in the Nangahar Province.  The tournament is a dramatic and energizing social event for the Pech from Nangalam to Bar Khanday.

 

 The first match of the tournament was between Kandigal Village and Harra, a sub village of Bar Kanday.  These two villages are from different tribes and signifies unity between different elements.

As a demonstration of the unity between the people and the desire for PEACE, the men expressed their feelings with the chalk field markings to the left. The demonstration was not solicited.

This is a small glimpse of the crowd size. This was the support that cleaned up the field.

2nd Platoon, Able Company, 2/503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment also sponsored a youth team to represent the base during the tournament. The sponsored team received uniforms for all 15 players in addition to bats and balls.
