Jalalabad, Nangarhar Province: Afghan National Police possibly saved
hundreds of lives yesterday when they found a large unattended bag in
the Jalalabad Bus Station. Closer inspection revealed it was an
explosive device. Policemen immediately secured the area, moved the
passengers to safety and calling the IRoA National Directorate of
Security’s Bomb Squad who disposed of the device. Jalalabad is a major
city in eastern Afghanistan, the bus station provides a vital link to
Kabul, Kandahar and the rest of the nation for the roughly 550,000
people who live there.
