Shewana, Farah Province: The Afghan National Army outpost in Shewana
was attacked early this morning. The well trained and disciplined
Afghan Soldiers at the outpost held the enemy off and called for
additional troops. The reinforcements arrived from Herat and confirmed
there were up to 30 insurgents attacking the outpost. A Coalition
Embedded Training Team with the reinforcements called for Air Support.
A pair of Coalition Mirage 2000’s soon arrived followed by a pair of
Attack helicopters. Afghan Policemen from a nearby village came to
stand with the Soldiers against the Taliban. Roughly four hours after
the initial attack the Afghan National Army reported the fight was
over, several Taliban had been killed and wounded while the rest ran
away. One Afghan Soldier was killed, two were wounded. All the wounded,
Afghan Army and Taliban were transported to coalition Medical
Facilities for treatment.
