BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan (June 25, 2008) – Five militants were detained during a Coalition forces operation to disrupt Taliban activities in Ghazni province Tuesday.
Coalition forces searched multiple areas in Jaghatu District targeting a Taliban leader known to facilitate foreign-fighter operations in the area.
Coalition forces identified armed militants maneuvering against the force and responded with small-arms fire, wounding a suspected militant and an adult male civilian who is not suspected of being involved with the militants.
Coalition forces treated both injured men on the scene and evacuated both to a Coalition hospital for further medical treatment.
During their search, Coalition forces discovered an AK-47, an ammunition vest, ammunition, a shot-gun, a grenade and an artillery round. The weapons and ammunition were destroyed to prevent future use.
